Celebrating Women’s History Month 2025

March brings Women’s History Month, a time to celebrate the valuable contributions and achievements of women throughout history. From Susan B. Anthony and Elizabeth Cady Stanton to Oprah Winfrey and Malala Yousafzai, women have always paved the way for future generations.

Here are some ways you can honor and celebrate Women’s History Month this year:

  • Read books by female authors: There are many wonderful books written by women, including Becoming by Michelle Obama, We Should All Be Feminists by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, and I Am Malala by Malala Yousafzai.  Here are some additional recommendations: 100 best books to read by women authors

  • Support women-owned businesses: When you support women-owned businesses, you help empower women to financially support themselves and their families. Using a women-owned business directory, you can find companies that sell a variety of products and offer different services. Etsy also allows you to filter through companies to buy products and services from women entrepreneurs.

  • Celebrate the women in your life: Show appreciation for the women in your life, including your family members, colleagues, friends, and mentors. Write a letter of appreciation or tell them how much they mean to you. Spend some additional time with them this month.

  •  Learn more about women’s history: Educate yourself about the history of Women's History Month and the contributions of women in various fields, by visiting websites such as National Women's History Museum, Women’s History Month 2025 | HISTORY, and Smithsonian American Women's History Museum

  • Advocate for gender equality: Get involved with organizations and charities like the National Organization for Women, Lean In, Together Women Rise, and  the Malala Fund that promotes workplace equality, helps women and girls in low-income communities, and empowers women to aspire to greater heights.

  • Use your voice on social media: Help spread the importance of Women’s History Month and International Women’s Day on March 8th, by following and sharing social media content from UN Women, Lean In, the Malala Fund, and Together Women Rise. Use hashtags like #WomensHistoryMonth and #EmpowerWomen to spread awareness.

Overall, Women’s History Month should be a time to support, encourage, and amplify the voices of women and allies who want to create a more inclusive and equitable world. I hope these recommendations give you some ideas on how to make the most of the month and I welcome additional recommendations in the comments.
