A Work Reflection

January marked my first year of full-time work.

The year went by quickly, but it also feels that I’ve worked full-time longer than just one year.

Reflecting on the past year, I feel that I’ve learned a few lessons in my life.

Firstly, I’ve learned that my professional work has helped me learn new skills and sharpen existing ones.

I’ve learned how to better deal with conflict, manage expectations, and think outside the box.

I’ve also strengthened my organization, time management, and collaboration skills.

Secondly, I’ve learned the importance of work-life balance and making sure to also focus on my relationship with my family and friends.

It’s important to have boundaries and not over work yourselves.

Work is a large part of our lives, but it shouldn’t be the only part of our lives, and we need to also have a life outside of work.

Taking our PDOs is very important for our physical, emotional, and mental health.

Thirdly, the world is always changing, and work is no different.

Colleagues come and go, new projects and opportunities present themselves, and companies can merge or become acquired.

Being able to deal with changes and the impermanence of life is important.

Overall, I’m grateful that my first year of full-time work has gone well and that I have a job I really enjoy.
